A motorcycle (okada) rider and a lady, both yet to be identified, were also victims of the accident.
Matthew (Biggy), a friend of Maduka narrated that the deceased was a First Class student with CGPA of 4.7 in the Department of Economics.
“How can this happen? Today is supposed to be his mother’s birthday. Who will disclose this bad news to his mother now,” he lamented.
“At the time of filing this report, the body of Maduka was still trapped under the trailer, as police officers, vigilante operatives, personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and sympathizers are still making frantic efforts to lift the truck off the ground and possibly rescue any other victim trapped,” Oasis Magazine reported.
Some sources said the death toll might increase, saying other victims are still trapped under the trailer and the cement that fell off the truck during the tragic incidence.
The conductor of the vehicle was reportedly beaten up mercilessly by angry passersby and thereafter handed over to the police.
The whereabouts of the driver was still unknown at press time.
