Nigerian filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan has responded to recent remarks made by his ex-wife, actress Stella Damasus, about the circumstances surrounding the end of their marriage.
The former couple, who got married in 2014 and parted ways in 2020, had largely kept details of their split out of the public eye.

However, in a previously recorded interview that resurfaced online, Damasus claimed she learned of their divorce through a video on YouTube.
“I pride myself in being a very respectable person, a lot of things were said about me on YouTube. That is how I found out that my marriage had ended, on YouTube,” she said during the interview with Teju Babyface.
Ademinokan, who had kept silent for years, broke his silence on Instagram to dispute the actress’s account.
He shared what looked like a screenshot of an email and stated that Damasus herself initiated the divorce.
“I usually don’t dignify nonsense with a response, but when silence gets mistaken for ignorance or guilt, it’s only fair to offer a quick 5-minute reality check. Today’s your lucky day,” he wrote.
In a direct message to Damasus, he added, “Dear queen mother, five years since the separation, three since the divorce. Still, you just can’t let go. I’ve said nothing. I’ve seen nothing. I’ve done nothing, since 2020. But somehow, I’m still living rent-free in your narrative.”
Ademinokan insisted that his silence should not be confused for wrongdoing or weakness, and warned that any further distortions of the truth would be addressed with evidence.
“Let me be clear, silence is not guilt. Distance is not weakness. But lies? Especially ones I have receipts for? That’s a different story,” he continued.
He accused Damasus of consistently reshaping the story to suit her own version of events, despite the matter being resolved years ago.
“I’ve watched you twist facts with confidence, assuming no one’s paying attention. But now that you’ve mistaken grace for guilt, I will ask you to choose your next story wisely because I came with footnotes,” he said.
Reacting specifically to her statement about learning of the divorce online, Ademinokan labelled it false: “Queen mother, let’s not rewrite history just because the internet has a short attention span. You claimed in that little interview with your echo chamber that you ‘found out about the divorce on YouTube.’ Lie.”
He also disputed the claim that he had sent her divorce papers she wasn’t aware of: “You claimed I signed and sent you the divorce papers that you were not aware of. Another lie. Quick reality check. Who filed for divorce? You do realize that’s public record, right?”
The filmmaker hinted that he may publicly share documents to support his side if necessary: “Don’t worry, I’ll post the receipts. A little reminder, just in case selective memory is setting in.”
As of now, Stella Damasus has not publicly reacted to Ademinokan’s statements.
