Arnold Danjuma, a Nigerian-born winger who currently plays for Villareal in the Spanish league, has aired that Nigeria was only an option.
Reports from several sources in the Dutch media a few days ago disclosed his move to switch to Nigeria following Netherland’s refusal to involve him in its squad.
The 24-year-old however denied that it was a rumor subsequent to the Oranje’s recent call-up.

On his debut, Danjuma came off the bench to register his first goal, netting his side’s fifth goal against Gibraltar 15 minutes before the final whistle.
The former Bournemouth forward remarked that in spite of his love for Nigeria, the Netherland holds a special place in his heart.
He added that had he not been included in the Dutch’s national team, then he would have considered Nigeria as an option.
He said after the match: “It wasn’t as it was reported. My statement was blown out of what it means. ”
“I feel Dutch and I have always wanted to play for the team after my heart. Nigeria is a country I love but playing for them is an option I see as a fallback if I don’t get my chance here. I’m here now and I want to make it count. “
