British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, known as Darkoo, shared that coming out to her parents about her sexuality was a significant relief for her.
In a recent episode of ‘The Appointment Show’ podcast, hosted by Layo, the artist explained how the experience lifted a burden off her shoulders and has since made her feel much happier.
“The day I told my mom about my sexuality, it felt like a massive weight was lifted… I’ve been happy ever since,” Darkoo revealed.
She added that while it was an emotional moment, particularly for her mother, opening up to both of her parents brought her peace.
“It was harder on my mom than my dad because I’m closer to her. It was very emotional for her, but my dad wasn’t too interested in the conversation. At the end of the day, I’m living my life, and that’s what matters.”
