Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez found himself in a heated altercation with Colombia fans following his team’s defeat in the Copa America semi-final on Wednesday night.
Uruguay lost 1-0 to Colombia, with Jefferson Lerma scoring the decisive goal in the first half.
After the final whistle, blown by Mexican referee Cesar Ramos, Nunez and his teammate Ronald Araujo rushed towards a section of Colombia fans at the Bank of America Stadium.

Nunez was seen exchanging punches with Colombia supporters until police intervened to separate the groups.
Uruguay captain Jose Gimenez later explained that the confrontation occurred because their families, seated near the Colombia supporters, were in danger during the match. “Please, I ask you to be careful. Families are in the stands. Our families are in danger. This is a disaster,” Gimenez told Directv.
