Popular singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, recently asserted that his family plays a significant role in distributing electricity across Nigeria.
He mentioned that his family owns four power plants that contribute a substantial amount of energy to the country’s grid.
Davido shared these insights during his appearance on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ where he discussed his family’s business ventures and his personal investments.

He said, “I once tried to go into cryptocurrency because Nigeria is big on crypto. Apart from that, me and my family have like four power plants worth a lot of money. W distribute energy to most of Nigeria.
“My wife is into culinary. We are trying to start a restaurant for her. But my main business is what I love; my music.”
However, while Davido’s family has notable investments in the energy sector, many believe that his claims about supplying a major portion of Nigeria’s electricity are exaggerated. Most of the large-scale thermal and hydropower plants in Nigeria are still under government ownership and control.
