Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has shared his thoughts on being underappreciated, despite a decade and a half of influence in the Nigerian music industry.
Speaking during a recent chat with content creator Egungun of Lagos—posted on X on Wednesday—Davido reflected on his journey, noting that although he’s remained relevant and successful for 15 years, he often feels that his contributions are overlooked.
“I’ve been dominating the music industry for 15 years,” he said. “But the funny thing is, people don’t give me the flowers I deserve.”

When asked if he thinks he has haters, Davido admitted there are some, but added, “Everywhere I go, people show me love. So I’m like, where exactly are the haters?”
Regardless of how he feels about the recognition he receives, Davido’s achievements speak volumes.
At the 17th Headies Awards in Lagos, he was named Artist of the Year and also received the Digital Artiste of the Year award, underscoring his lasting impact on both traditional and digital music platforms.
