“Instead of stepping forward, his tendency is always to step back.”

Maguire’s return from injury has exposed him to an avalanche of criticisms from different sides.

Former Manchester United striker, Teddy Sheringham had also censured the 28-year-old saying he wasn’t a proper captain over lack of leadership amid abysmal 5-0 defeat to the Reds.

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane also regarded him alongside Luke Shaw as a ‘disgrace’ after their side’s 3-0 triumph over Tottenham last weekend.
