Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has expressed his regret after receiving a red card during their 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Saturday.
Arsenal were expected to win but had to settle for a draw after Rice was sent off in the 49th minute, putting his team at a disadvantage against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Just nine minutes after Rice’s dismissal, Brighton equalized, leaving the Gunners with only a point.
Reflecting on the incident, Declan Rice said, “It’s the first time I’ve been sent off in my career, so I just wanted to apologize to my teammates and the fans, which I’ve done. When you get sent off, it’s never nice, and you feel a sense of guilt. I was fortunate that my teammates helped me out and we didn’t lose the game. I’ll learn from this.”
Rice will miss Arsenal’s next match, a crucial Premier League clash against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, scheduled for September 15 after the international break.
