The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has alerted the public to a scam involving a fake WhatsApp number impersonating him.
The number, +234 707 743 7582, has been circulating on social media, claiming to represent the Minister.

In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, Alake urged the public to disregard any communication from the number, emphasizing that it is not connected to him, his assistants, or anyone in his office.
The Minister has reported the incident to security agencies, seeking their assistance in apprehending the impersonator.
The media aide said: “This is the handiwork of an impostor. The Minister urges the public to disregard any correspondence or communication supposedly from him through the said contact number.
“This serves as a disclaimer while we work with the security agencies to identify the culprit and bring upon him the full weight of the law.”
