Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has candidly revealed that he prefers acting in films produced by others rather than venturing into film production himself.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo, the seasoned actor admitted that producing films isn’t his strength, especially due to the financial demands involved.
Odule explained that successful film production requires strategic money management and a keen understanding of commercial operations—areas he confessed he lacks experience in. Despite having produced around ten films, he said he cannot confirm if any of them were profitable, nor can he trace the master copies of those projects.

“I’ve never been good at producing,” he confessed. “A good producer must know how to handle finances, and that’s not my strong point. Film production is a business—you’re expected to invest and make returns. I don’t have that skill. That’s why I stick to acting, because that’s what I know best.”
Reflecting on his past efforts in film production, Odule admitted that his lack of financial oversight further proves he isn’t cut out for the producer role.
“I can’t even tell you where the master copies of those films are today,” he added. “That alone shows I’m not a good producer.”
Despite these setbacks, the actor expressed a willingness to revisit film production in the future—but only for high-level platforms.
“If I ever return to producing, it would have to be for Netflix or cinema releases. I’m not interested in anything below that,” he stated.
In the same interview, Odule also revealed a difficult period in his career when he was allegedly sidelined from the industry for two years. He said the exclusion was a result of being perceived as a threat.
“I was blacklisted for two years. I believe it was because some people saw me as a threat and decided to silence me through blackmail,” he recounted.
Despite the challenges, Dele Odule remains a respected figure in Nollywood, celebrated for his acting prowess and longevity in the industry.
