Delta Assembly Assures Inclusive Anti-Open Grazing Bill Legislation

Delta Assembly Assures Inclusive Anti-Open Grazing Bill Legislation | Daily Report Nigeria

The anti-open grazing bill proposed by the Delta State House of Assembly got a major boost on Monday as the Joint Committees on Special Bills and Agriculture and Natural Resources, pledged their commitment to give the people of the State a clean and all-embracing law.

Chairmen of the joint committees, Pat Ajudua for Committee on Special Bills and Austin Chikezie Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources gave the assurance during a public hearing.

The proposed bill is to make for a law to provide for the regulation of livestock breeding, rearing and marketing and to prohibit open grazing and related matters across Delta State.

Chairman on Special Bills, Ajudua and on behalf of the Joint Committees, told newsmen after the hearing that the joint committees would ensure major stakeholders were invited to make contributions.

Ajudua, the chief whip of the House, promised that the committee would come out with a clean bill that Deltans would be proud of.

“The Joint Committees are committed in giving Deltans a bill that is all-embracing, a bill that will affect Deltans positively, and a bill that will positively affect those involved cattle rearing, and cattle business generally.

“This is why we have come to sit down with various stakeholders to give us their various opinions concerning the success of the bill,” Ajudua said.

According to the lawmaker, the joint committees was made up of carefully selected, brilliant, selfless, and hard-working lawmakers that would guarantee a good delivery of the bill.
