Delta: Constituents Laud Pondi Over Free Medical Outreach in Riverine Communities

The lawmaker representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Julius Gbabojor Pondi, has received commendations from his constituents for effective representation.

Over 800 beneficiaries took part in the exercise that held in Ekogbene, Okpokunu and Torugbene communities in Burutu Local Government Area.

Speaking to our correspondents during the exercise, some of the beneficiaries revealed that basic health-care had been a luxury prior to the outreach.

They poured encomiums on the lawmaker for prioritizing their health and total wellbeing, praying for God’s blessing on the legislator.

John Sobu, a beneficiary from Ekogbene, noted that he had never witnessed an intervention of this guise in the area.

“This medical outreach by Hon. Pondi has helped us in this community. We have never seen this type of thing in our lives. Never had a government official come out to give free drugs or treat people. We’ve never seen this before now.

“We thank him for being a good representative and pray that God lifts him higher. We urge him to do more even when he gets higher positions,” Sobu said.

Chief Buku Mienpeikumo, another beneficiary from Ekogbene said, “we are happy over what Julius Pondi has done with this outreach. We commend his efforts and enjoin others who in his cadre to emulate him in this guise.”

For Comrade David Peter Ayemi, Chairman Okpokunu Urban Community, the exercise was a first in the history of the community.

“What our representative has done today will go down and go well in the history of Okpokunu. It is a first of its kind since the advent of democracy in 1999. We have never felt this kind of impact.

“But today, Julius Pondi has made a great impact on us and the entire community appreciates what he has done. What he has done is remarkable. We pray more grace for him to prosper in his affairs,” he said.

It was no different a story in Torugbene as the people sang praises on the lawmaker for being an effective and impactful representative.

The outreach featured home medical care for the elderly, screening, counseling, consultations, dispensing of drugs and glasses.

Surgeries were also conducted for Appendectomy, Herniorrhaphy, Hydrocelectomy, Lipoma surgery and herniotomy.

The beneficiaries were treated for malaria, diabetes, glaucoma, arthritis, asthma, and over 50 other diseases.
