The Nigeria Youth Organization, Burutu has called on youths across Delta state, particularly Burutu to wholly engage themselves in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

In a statement on Monday signed by the duo of Comrade Magbei Tare and Comrade Kenneth Odubosatu, Chairman and Publicity Secretary respectively, the NYO tasked youths to be peaceful ambassadors in every electioneering process.

While emphasizing that youths are the Kingmakers in every political setting, the group tasked on youths across Burutu and Delta state to take their place in actively participating in elections.

The statement sent to Daily Report Nigeria further called for a credible, free and fair election conduction from the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC.

The statement reads;

“The times are nigh where your strength, unity and courage is on high demand for a new regime of government behoves on you.

“Overtime, our place as Kingmakers in politically motivated systems has been greatly undermined by every tier of government in Nigeria.

“Burutu, our concerned local government area has not faired better in upholding youths-oriented values during elections and in the pursuit of her progress and development.

“Youths have generally been reduced to playing great and often besmirching roles in times past; painting us in a frame of inefficiency and uselessness.

“We’ve been described as villains of electioneering processes owing to acts of destruction of electoral materials, snatching of ballot boxes, disruption of a peaceful atmosphere and general thuggery in the past.

“As the 2021 Council election dawns on us, I charge all youths in Burutu and beyond to positively maximise their place as true champions of electioneering processes.

“Let our role as Kingmakers be utilized to the advantage of all youths and the general populace towards the progress and development of Burutu.

“Again, the Nigeria Youth Organization call on youths to massively participate and be peace ambassadors in championing the outcome of the March 6, 2021 polls.

“We also demand for a free, fair and credible demonstration from the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) in overseeing the election process.

“A level playing ground should be accorded all Political Parties and their candidates as well as a constructive assessment of electorates during the polls.”

The local government polls are billed to take place on March 6, 2021 across the state.
