Delta Police Arrest Eight-Member Syndicate For Robbery, Fraud

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a group of suspected armed robbers and fraudsters who allegedly specialize in defrauding and dispossessing unsuspecting residents across the state.

According to DAILY POST, the arrests were carried out between August 11 and 16, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects were identified as Ibrukoko (32), Obruche (31), Lucky Umukoro (28), Emmanuel Burutu (22), Musa Abdulahi (27), Sokoh (30), Preye Julius (36), and Kadija Abass (30).

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued a statement disclosing that the syndicate had been notorious for deceiving their victims before robbing and defrauding them.

He said, “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team between the 11th and 16th of August 2025, arrested a syndicate of robbers/fraudsters who specialize in robbing and defrauding unsuspecting victims of their valuables such as phones, motorcycles, jewellery, and looting of their victims’ bank accounts.

“The suspects act in the guise of looking for direction and then hypnotize their victims before extorting and defrauding them.”

Edafe further listed the suspects’ identities, noting that they hail from different communities in Delta, Kaduna, and Sokoto States. He added that they operated mainly in Warri, Ughelli, and other parts of Delta as well as Edo State.

Recovered from the suspects were two Toyota Camry vehicles (registration numbers LND-809-HE and KSF-61-JU) alongside sixteen suspected stolen iPhones.

The police spokesperson revealed, “Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects have so far defrauded their victims of over twenty-three million, five hundred thousand naira (N23,500,000), iPhones stolen by the suspects are about forty-two lady bikes, and the number of victims defrauded so far is twelve.

“Suspects and exhibits are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”
