The Delta State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected drug dealers and rescued a kidnapped woman in two different operations, reaffirming its commitment to fighting crime in the state.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives from the Crack Squad stormed a criminal hideout in the GRA area of Effurun on October 12, 2025, following credible intelligence. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Igwe Samson (33) and Abalum Sunday (39).

A detailed search on their Toyota Sienna vehicle uncovered a large quantity of banned drugs, including 450 bottles of CSP Codeine, 188 bottles of Bargadine, 208 sachets of Tramadol 100mg, 100 sachets of Tramadol 500mg, 300 sachets of Swinol, 50 sachets of Rophynol, and a bag of weeds suspected to be cannabis.

The police spokesperson revealed that the suspects had been operating for nearly two years, sourcing their supplies from Onitsha and transporting them mostly at night to avoid detection. He assured that efforts are ongoing to track down their suppliers and customers linked to the drug syndicate.

In a separate operation on the same day, police officers from Ovian-Aladja Division, led by CSP Friday Ekundayo, foiled a kidnapping attempt after receiving a distress call around 2:00 a.m. The officers pursued the abductors to a forest near the Iyara community, where the pressure from law enforcement forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim.

The woman was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with her family, while the police continue efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects.
