The Delta State Government has approved the construction of Police Divisional Headquarters across all 25 local government areas, a move aimed at enhancing security and preparing for the Federal Government’s proposed state police policy.
The announcement was made following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, said the state will also establish a Nigeria Police Special Protection Unit (SPU) base to bolster policing operations.

In addition, the council sanctioned over ₦400 billion for the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of roads and other critical infrastructure.
Key projects include the Aghalokpe–SPDC–Adagbrassa–Aragba Road in Okpe LGA, Warri Internal Ring Road Phase Two, and major roads in Asaba, Udu, and Ughelli.
Riverine areas like Bomadi and Burutu will see new road projects, while universities will benefit from male and female hostels.
The government will also renovate magistrate and customary courts and construct new judges’ quarters in strategic locations.
Aniagwu emphasized that these approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to modern infrastructure, improved governance, and the safety of communities across Delta State.
