DESOPADEC: Bebenimibo Apologizes Over Assault on Youth President, Brokers Peace

Dr Paul Bebenimibo, the Commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission, DESOPADEC, has apologized to the people of Ogbe-Ijaw kingdom over the assault meted on the youth President, Mr. James Etimadimene.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that Mr. Etimadimene was allegedly beaten up alongside another member of his cabinet by security personnel of Dr Paul Bebenimibo on Wednesday, October 13.

Though, the incident was greeted with heavy condemnation from various quarters, the Commissioner has now made peace with the victim and the Ogbe-Ijoh people.

This follows a meeting convened on Tuesday by the leadership of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Warri, Delta state.

Dr Paul Bebenimibo in his remark, apologized to the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom as well as the assault victim over the ugly incident, assuring to take care of the medical bills and other expenses incurred during the course of the incident.

The assault victim, Mr. James Etimadimene, on his part, obliged to give peace a chance following the intervention of the leadership of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

Mr. James iterated that he has no issues with the Honorable Commissioner.

The meeting presided over by Chief Favour Izoukumor, the Fiyewei of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom had other traditional council members, government appointees, Ijaw Youth Council stakeholders and faithfuls of the People’s Democratic Party.

Chief Favor had called for peace between all parties, while commenting the efforts of His Royal Majesty Couple Markson Oromoni, Mobene III, The Pere Amaokosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom for his fatherly wisdom, Chief Frank Omare and other stakeholders for supporting a peace process that has given birth to a peaceful resolution.

Meanwhile, the seven days ultimatum issued to DESOPADEC by the Ijaw Youths Council is will elapse on Sunday, October 24, 2021
