Dexamethasone Considered By UK Researchers As Likely Drug For COVID-19 Cure | Daily Report Nigeria

Researchers from the Oxford University, United Kingdom, has considered Dexamethasone drug as likely drug for coronavirus cure.

According to British Broadcasting Corporation, the researchers have keenly noted the clinical trial of Dexamethasone, a widely available and cheap drug, as it could save the lives of chronical COVID-19 patients.

Furthermore, the researchers noted that the drug have reduced death risks by a third of COVID-19 patients on ventilators, While those on oxygen by a Fifth. The drug is also used to treat inflammation of various condition and types.

Meanwhile, the UK Government have ordered 200,000 courses of the drug in its stockpile as efforts are on the run to make it available to patients.

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has celebrated the remarkable British COVID-19 breakthrough as he stated a genuine case to account for the victory.

The UK Government has hence authorized the use of Dexamethasone for the treatment of coronavirus with immediate effect.

The United Kingdom has recorded over 200,000 cases of coronavirus and a death toll of over 40,000.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that it was aware of the clinical trial of Dexamethasone in the United Kingdom, but has not been validated for use in Nigeria.
