Popular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon recently opened up about how his limited social media presence initially hindered his growth in the entertainment industry.
In an interview on the Echoo Room Podcast, Deyemi Okanlawon shared the challenges he faced early in his acting career. Despite his talent, he found himself constantly rejected by producers who prioritized social media following over skill.
“Not having Instagram followers hindered me. I would tell myself, ‘I’m the guy who comes to kill himself on set. Why am I being judged by the number of followers I have?” he said.

Realizing the importance of social media in the industry, Deyemi decided to focus on building his brand alongside honing his craft.
