Mrs Ibironke Sanwo-Olu, Lagos first lady, has expressed her belief that the tragic death of medical doctor, Diaso Vwaere in an elevator was caused by an “arrow fired into the health family.”
In a viral video, Sanwo-Olu shared her reaction to the incident, stating that August 1 will forever be inscribed in her memory.
She said:
“An arrow has been fired into the health family. The first of August is a day I will never forget.”
She also drew a connection between the incident and the crash of an aircraft on Oba Akran Road, Ikeja, on the same day.

The First Lady of Lagos questioned the coincidence of both events occurring simultaneously.
She said:
“The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”
Vwaere, a medical house officer at General Hospital, Odan, Lagos, tragically lost her life when an elevator at Lagos Island Hospital fell from the 10th floor to the ground floor.
Despite being rushed to the emergency ward, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In retaliation, the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) ordered the medical staff at the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, and Massey Street Children’s Hospital to go on an ongoing strike until the death’s cause was determined and justice was done.
Meanwhile, outraged Nigerians have criticized Mrs. Sanwo-Olu for attributing the tragic event to an “arrow fired,” with many of them believing that she is downplaying serious problems that require investigations.
