American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York as a precautionary measure.

This comes after his recent arrest and charges for federal sex trafficking and racketeering.

The 54-year-old was ordered by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky to be held in jail while awaiting trial.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, explained that the decision to place him under suicide watch is a standard procedure for high-profile inmates and not due to any specific concerns.

Agnifilo, who spent six hours with Diddy on Thursday, reassured that the rapper is not suicidal, describing him as healthy, confident, and focused on his defense.

It remains unclear how long Diddy will stay under the watch.
