In a significant development for the Diebiri community, Hon. Moses Douglas was affirmed as the Chairman of the Diebiri Governing Council (DGC) during a special event held at the Igade Town Hall in Batan community.

The event, which took place on Monday, August 5, 2024, solidified Douglas’ position following a series of notable events within the Council’s leadership contest.

The affirmation came after a thorough screening process overseen by a committee led by Comrade Frank Pukon.

The committee’s decision followed the disqualification of one of Douglas’ opponents due to misconduct, while another candidate chose to voluntarily withdraw from the race.

This sequence of events paved the way for Douglas’ unopposed affirmation as Chairman.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Moses Douglas assured the people of Diebiri of his commitment to advancing the community’s interests.

“I stand before you with a deep sense of responsibility and determination,” Douglas stated.

“My administration will prioritize employment opportunities and the development of our region. We will front these calls with vigor, ensuring that the aspirations of our people are met with tangible progress and sustainable growth.”

Hon. Moses Douglas’ affirmation comes over two months after the Diebiri Governing Council was inaugurated on May 12, 2024.

Initially, the Council’s Vice Chairman, Alex Misoro, had served as Acting Chairman, ensuring continuity in the Council’s activities during the transitional period.

The confirmation of Douglas as Chairman was greeted by unanimous acceptance by youths, women and elders alike.
