Distribution of CNG Conversion Kits to States Begins | Daily Report Nigeria

In a bid to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal, the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has begun distributing 1,000 conversion kits across various states.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the move aims to reduce transportation costs and generate employment opportunities.

At a press conference in Abuja, Programme Director Michael Oluwagbemi announced the distribution of conversion kits, which will enable vehicles to run on CNG, a cleaner and more affordable alternative to petrol.

This initiative plans to convert three million vehicles in the next three years, creating over 100,000 direct jobs.

Commercial transport operators will receive free conversions to minimize the impact of fuel subsidy removal and reduce transportation costs.

The distribution, codenamed ‘First Come First Serve’, has already seen 450 conversion kits allocated to states, with an additional 550 awaiting distribution.

Moses Onate, Warehouse Manager of the PiCN facility in Ibafo, Ogun State, stressed the importance of embracing this initiative, revealing its potential to greatly reduce fuel costs.
