Opukeme who is the Editor-in-chief of Daily Watch led an array of journalist that unravelled the unfathomable heights of corruption in the NDDC under the watch of Senator Akpabio.

The foremost publisher had earlier raised an alarm, stating that he allegedly escaped being assassinated by policemen and bandits sent after his life by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

Narrating his ordeal since escaping assassination by the whiskers, Opukeme narrated that he has since gone into hiding as those sent to end his life are still on the look out for him.

He lamented that himself and his family have since been exposed to hunger and he has find it difficult to be consistent with his job as a publisher has basic amenities are far from reach.

He further called on other notable guns in Delta state to help protect his life as his assailants look set to stopping at nothing to end his life.

Opukeme wrote;
A plea for help
Gov Ifeanyi Okowa and his Deputy Gov. Kingsley Otuaro my elder brother, Don’t wait and send condolence messages to my family and Nigerian Union of Journalists, if hunger or Akpabio kill me in my hiding place in the creek.

Gov. Wike has provided security for Dr. Joy Nunieh in Government House, whose building was raided by about 30 policemen this morning over NDDC probe.

Gov. Okowa is a good man, perhaps, I don’t have anybody in government house to present my plight to him.

Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Pls, use your powers to relocate me from my hideout in the creeks without food, light, powering my laptop and phones with Generator from Akpabio’s rogue/Assassin policemen marauding everywhere.

This is a passionate appeal. Despite my loud cry out, no paragraph statement has come from Delta government house over failed attempted assassination on me and other six journalists.

Recall that Senator Godswill Akpabio was also fingered over the death of the spokesman of the Ijaw Interest Advocates, Comrade Famous Belief Wonekiriebi, who was gruesomely murdered on the 18th of May.

The group had been the most vocal in the unveiling of the heavy corruption and looting that was allegedly perpetrated and led by the former governor of Akwa Ibom state.
