One of the members of the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council, F.S Yusuf, has queried why people can be counted anywhere in the country but can not vote anywhere in the country.
Recall that ahead of the census, the National Population Commission, NPC, had stressed that citizens living away from their states of origin do not need to travel home for the purpose of the exercise.
It said people would be enumerated at their places of residence.

Isiaka Yahaya, a spokesperson of the commission in an interview on Monday said, “People should stay where they are, to be counted. They are not to move to their states of origin”.
Yusuf while reacting to the statement via his Twitter handle on Tuesday said it didn’t make sense that one could be counted anywhere in the country but couldn’t vote anywhere in the country.
However, Yusuf insisted that he would rather go to his state to be counted than to be disrespected after meaningfully adding to the population of a state.
He wrote,
“So you can be counted anywhere in the country but you can’t vote anywhere in the country. Please, help me make this make sense abeg.
“I’d rather go to my state to be counted because the disrespect you get after meaningfully adding to the population of a state is too… This election open everybody eyes so no one should feign ignorance here.”
