Dog Kills Owner’s 4-Year-old Son in Rivers

Igbo Eche in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was thrown into chaos after a Rottweiler killed its owner’s son.

Daily Report Nigeria learnt that the unfortunate incident happened on Monday, July 17.

The victim’s father let his two dogs loose to protect his children in the yard while he was away at work.

Returning home, he met his son’s father in a pool of blood. He was told that the dog had also injured the boy’s sister if the neighbor who had killed the pet had not intervened in time.

The source said:

“This happened yesterday in my area. The boy’s father was on his way to work when he received a call that one of his dogs had mauled his son to death.

“According to him, the five dogs were very familiar with his kids reason he released only two to guard the compound.

“He noted that sometimes, his four years old son usually put the dogs in their cages so he had no inkling that something of this nature could happen.

“By the time he returned home, he met his son dead in the pool of his blood. He was told that the dog also injured the boy’s sister if not for the timely intervention of neighbors who killed the pet.

“Also, we gathered from the veterinary doctor that some dogs develop mental issues after five years and he had advised them to sell or kill the dog. Apparently, the dog had been with the family for seven years. It was such a glory sight to behold and I pray God comforts the family in these trying times.”
