A youth leader in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state, Comrade Friday Erebugha has advised politicians on how best to sponsor education in their constituencies.

Comrade Friday in a heart-felt appeal shared on different social media platforms, kicked against the practice of politicians just buying the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination forms for their constituents.

He advised that instead of purchasing JAMB forms for 1000 students, public office holders should purchase JAMB forms, pay clearance fees, accommodation and school fees for just 10 students.

According to the former Youth Secretary of Ogbe-Ijoh, that approach will reduce the norm of more than 90% of free JAMB form beneficiaries not securing admission owing to financial incapability.

He buttressed that the most difficult aspect of a student’s life is the first year of admission where lots of financial obligations are pinned on them.

Comrade Erebugha wrote;
It is my candid appeal to all leaders within the axis of Burutu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas towards assisting students with JAMB forms.

Buying of JAMB forms for students is highly encouraged and appreciated, but it will be more encouraging if it is extended to include accommodation, clearance fees and first year school fees.

If our leaders are to assist 1000 with just JAMB forms, it will be encouraging to assist just 10 students with JAMB forms, accommodation, clearance fees and first year school fee as new intakes.

According to findings, the most difficult aspect for one to get into an institution of higher learning is based on clearance, accommodation and first year school fee.

Someone who can not afford JAMB form cannot as well afford the above mentioned.

Statistic has shown that over 90% of free JAMB form beneficiaries do not get admitted into higher institutions even after passing the exam with great marks.

This is as a result of their inability to pay for clearance, accommodation and first year school fees. But if the burden of the first year expenses is lifted from them, it will be easier for anybody in that position to find their way through.

It is my appeal to all leaders who have the interest of education at heart and would go as far as to buying JAMB form for students to please consider the above facts. It will help students more than just buying JAMB forms.

God bless our leaders.
