Drama as Kogi Rejects Two Index Cases Confirmed by NCDC

leadership of the Executive Governor, Yahaya Bello has rejected the two index Coronavirus cases reported by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC against the state.

During a press statement released on Wednesday, the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Saka Haruna, stated that the claims by the NCDC was a mere fallacy. Hence, the results will not be accepted in the state.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control had on Wednesday announced the two index cases in the state.

Haruna further affirmed that the state is currently free from coronavirus,

The Commissioner vehemently emphasized on the states impeccable record of the lethal virus, arguing that Kogi has developed in-house testing capacity to carry out full fledged testing itself.

Stranded Nigerians: FG Declares Suspension of Evacuation Program

According to Haruna, the state has conducted hundreds of coronavirus test and all have returned negative results so far.

Commissioner Haruna insists that the Yahaya Bello led Kogi State Government will not partake in any fictitious claims of Covid-19 by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Kogi state does not recognize any test recognize any tests results outside the ones undertaken by the state’s Covid-19 test team.

Lockdown: FG Set to Issue Guidelines on Schools Reopening

He further stated that any attempts to force the state into announcing a case of a confirmed case of the lethal virus will be rejected vehemently.

It would be recalled that till date, Kogi state government is yet to officially announce a case of the novel coronavirus in state.

According to statistics by the NCDC, Nigeria has confirmed 8733 cases of the virus with 2501 recoveries and 254 deaths recorded so far.
