The Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed that certain groups have planned to disrupt the protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to create unrest in the country.

Last week, the NLC declared its intention to hold a two-day nationwide protest in response to the hardships faced by Nigerians.

According to NLC President Joe Ajaero, the protest is scheduled to begin a week after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatumissued to the Federal Government, which ends on February 23.

The proposed protest dates are February 27 and 28, 2024.

In response to the planned strike, the DSS has cautioned that if it proceeds, it could exacerbate the socio-economic challenges across the nation.

While acknowledging the labor movement’s right to protest, the DSS urged restraint in the interest of peace and public order.

Rather than escalating tensions, the DSS encouraged dialogue and negotiation between parties.

Furthermore, DSS stated that relevant authorities are collaborating with stakeholders to devise strategies for addressing the current difficulties.
