The Department of State Services (DSS) has detained former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Yari, who currently represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the Senate is being grilled by operatives of the secret police.

However, no reason has been given for Yari’s detention and subsequent interrogation.

Yari is said to have reported at the DSS office after plenary on Thursday following an invitation, a close source who claimed to have escorted the lawmaker said.

“Senator Yari is still in the DSS custody, but he should be out soon in sha ’Allah. He went to their office himself after the plenary. I escorted him there and he has been there since then,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Peoples Gazette reports that Yari was arrested after receiving a phone call from the DSS director-general, Yusuf Bichi, asking him report at the DSS headquarters for an urgent discussion.
