The Department of State Services (DSS) has foiled a N15 million kidnap plot and rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, in Dan Zaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State.
The DSS Kano Command said its tactical operatives stormed the village around 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, following a distress report that the child had been abducted to an unknown location.

According to the agency, the suspected kidnappers demanded N15 million ransom from the victim’s family.

In a statement issued on Friday, the DSS disclosed that a 20-year-old suspect, Aminu Mukhtar, was arrested during the operation while allegedly negotiating the ransom with the boy’s father via a GSM line.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect confessed to abducting the child with the intention of collecting ransom.
The agency added that both the suspect and the rescued child are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Residents of the community commended the swift response of the DSS, describing the rescue as timely amid rising concerns over child abductions in parts of Kano State.
