DSS Nabs Suspected Vote-Buyer with Cash at Ondo Election Polling Unit

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a man suspected of engaging in vote-buying during the ongoing governorship election in Ondo State.

The arrest occurred at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, outside St. Stephen’s Primary School in Akure, Ondo State.

According to sources within the DSS, the suspect was apprehended with two large bags filled with money that was allegedly intended to induce voters at the polling unit.

The suspect’s identity has not been officially released, but authorities confirmed the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to curb electoral malpractice during the election.

“The suspect was caught in possession of large sums of money, which were clearly meant for vote-buying purposes,” a DSS official stated. “He was apprehended at the scene, and further investigations are underway.”

This development comes amid heightened security across Ondo State as the governorship election continues, with various agencies, including the police and the DSS, on high alert to prevent electoral fraud.

The DSS has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring a free and fair election, urging voters to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
