The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), resumed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, with the Department of State Services (DSS) providing insight into his arrest in 2015. A DSS operative, testifying under the codename PWAAA, said Kanu was arrested in a hotel room at the Lagos International Airport without any weapon.

The witness, whose identity was shielded for security reasons, listed items recovered from Kanu’s hotel room, including laptops, iPads, and radio broadcast materials. “Most of the items that were retrieved from the hotel room were Kanu’s personal belongings,” the witness said. Under cross-examination by Kanu’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, the witness admitted that he did not analyze any of the items and that the report of the analysis of Kanu’s phones was not tendered before the court.

The court adjourned the matter to May 6, 7, and 8 for continuation of cross-examination. Kanu is facing a seven-count charge preferred against him by the Federal Government.
