The All Progressives Congress’ candidate for the Burutu North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Amb. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo has received a big boost ahead of the March 11 poll.

This is as not less than 46 communities drawn from the six wards that make up the constituency, endorsed him as their preferred candidate for the seat in 2023.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the APC flag bearer and his campaign organization embarked on a four day campaign tour across the communities between Monday February 6 and Thursday February 10, 2023.

Large crowds welcomed Alapala and his campaign train in what most of the communities described as a first time experience.

The people repeatedly decried an absolute neglect by candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before and after elections in the past.

As reported by our correspondent, a large amount of the communities had no government presence as the people lamented a lack of basic infrastructure such as portable water, health facilities, and power.

The campaign kicked off from Ekeremor community in Ward 10, where the electorates decried a deliberate deprivation from government presence.

The community noted that no candidate of any political party had ever taken a campaign to its people since inception and attributed Alapala’s move as “a sign of having the people of the constituency at heart.”

The story was same for other communities spread across the constituency like Yeye, Kandaya, Okibo Zion, Agedi Zion, and Obuguru, Edegbene, Dunugusu, Bikorogha, Gbekebor, Bubougbene, Oyangbene, Egolegbene, Ebeingbene, New Town, Eseimogbene, Akparemo, Asiyaigbene, Egodor, Agbodobiri, Opuapale, Labulouseigha, Founkoro (Mile 15), Ebitonmogbene, Amayarengbene, amongst others.

Ward after ward, the constituents labeled the PDP a failed political party that never gave priority to the plight of the masses, adding that the “efforts by the APC candidate to reach out to even the most interior units disconnected from governance, represents hope.”

Change has come – Alapala

On his part, the renowned philanthropist echoed his resolve to bring government closer to the people if voted in.

He assured that the debacle associated with the PDP will be a thing of the past by the time his people-driven ideologies are implement.

Alapala maintained that a Senator Ovie Omo-Agege led government in Delta State will cause widespread development in the entire state, particularly in Ijaw areas.

He said;

“I assure you my people that if I and Ovie Omo-Agege are voted into power, we’ll work together to bring adequate development to our communities.

“I know what is good for my people and what is good for my people is what I’ll do for them. I promise not to disappoint you.

“Don’t allow the PDP to deceive again. They took your votes election after election in the past without nothing tangible to show for it.

“I will work hand-in-hand with my governor to deliver adequate dividends of democracy when we get into office.”

Alapala’s promises to the constituency include education fund and scholarships, provision of potable water, health facilities, human capital development and more.

Other communities that endorsed Alapala’s candidature include;
Sokebolou, Obotobo I, Obotobo II, Ogulagha, Youbebe, Obuguru, Forcados, Odimodi, Ofougbene, Burutu, Obotebe,
Ayakoromo, Oboro, Okpokunu,
Enekorogha, and Kiagbodo.

The APC flag bearer would be hoping to unseat the incumbent, Asupa Forteta of the PDP.
