Easter: IGP Orders Special Deployment Of Personnel to Worship Centres, Highways, Parks

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Friday ordered the deployment of more security personnel to worship centres, motor parks and other public places during the 2023 Easter celebrations.

This was made known in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.

While reassuring Nigerians of the commitment of the police to ensuring security of lives and property, the IG charged police commissioners and zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to ensure in-depth security checks and patrol of all public spaces and essential government assets.

The statement read in part,

The IGP has ordered in-depth security checks and patrol of all public spaces and essential government assets. Particularly, all state Commissioners of Police and their supervising Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been ordered to ensure efficient deployment of police personnel and operational assets to areas of likely security threats within their respective areas of responsibility.

“The IGP equally charged all supervising officers that intensive and proactive visibility patrols should be carried out at all worship centres, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centres, banks and other financial institutions while taking necessary precautions to ensure a crime-free and peaceful environment for religious, cultural and other socio-economic activities and boost the confidence of the general public.”
