Spurs now face little competition, with a £60m-plus deal reportedly agreed.
Arsenal have pulled out of the race for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, deliberately clearing a path for Tottenham to pursue the experienced attacker.

The move reflects Arsenal’s decision to protect the first-team opportunities of two Hale End prospects rather than add a senior forward.
Ethan Nwaneri’s breakthrough last season earned him a new contract and, alongside Max Dowman, Arsenal believe he needs uninterrupted minutes to develop.
Before signing his deal, Nwaneri had links to Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, but he has committed to his boyhood club.
Consequently, Arsenal prefer to preserve a clear promotion route from the academy instead of crowding the squad.
As a result, Spurs now face less competition for Eze.
Reports say that the 27-year-old has agreed personal terms and that a fee north of £60 million is expected.
If completed, the transfer would be a major statement for Tottenham and a calculated gamble for Arsenal, who are prioritising long-term growth over immediate reinforcement.
