The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and the Ekati community are mourning the tragic death of Reverend James Audu Issa, who was abducted by terrorists in Patigi Local Government Area on August 28, 2025.
According to multiple local sources, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million. Following intense negotiations and immense pressure on the impoverished community, the demand was reduced to N5 million, which was eventually paid in good faith to secure the pastor’s release.
Shockingly, after receiving the payment, the kidnappers demanded an additional N45 million. Before any further negotiation could take place, Reverend Issa was however killed.
This incident has provoked widespread outrage across the region, highlighting the deepening insecurity in parts of Kwara State and the urgent need for government intervention and improved community protection.
