Eden Hazard Reveals Surprising Reason for Choosing Chelsea Over Man United

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard, the former captain of Belgium, recently shared the surprising reason behind his decision to join Chelsea, despite not initially being drawn to the club.

Throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, Hazard left an indelible mark, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists in 352 appearances across seven seasons. His illustrious career with Chelsea saw him clinch two Premier League titles, two Europa League trophies, and the FA Cup.

However, it’s worth noting that Hazard’s path could have taken a different turn, as he could have potentially ended up playing for Manchester United in the Premier League instead.

Eden Hazard said:

“I had a chat with Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I spoke with Harry Redknapp, at that time he was the manager of Tottenham. I went to Manchester to see the Man City training ground.

“So I had a few options, but not Chelsea because the last year in Lille, Chelsea in the league was not that good. You know when you [John Obi Mikel] won the Champions League, in the league you were like sixth or seventh, I don’t remember.

“I knew I was leaving France to go to the Premier League but not Chelsea, because I wanted to play in the Champions League, you know?

“So that move came because you won the Champions League.”
