The All Progressives Congress has claimed an early lead in the Edo State governorship election, warning against the circulation of fake results.

In a statement, APC spokesperson Felix Morka said, “We urge the Edo state electorate and the general public to disregard these bogus and highly speculative reports.”

Morka emphasized that the collation of results is still ongoing and has not been concluded at the Ward or Local Government levels. “Consistent with the Electoral Act, INEC is the sole authorized body empowered to collate results and declare the winner,” he added.

As of 9:55pm on Saturday, INEC had uploaded 95.40% of results from 4,519 polling units in the state on the viewing portal (IReV).

The APC’s claim of an early lead comes as the party’s governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, expressed confidence in his victory.
