The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration of causing setbacks in various sectors.

Speaking at a press conference, the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, claimed that the state had suffered declines in education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, and the economy.

“From education, where Edo has taken a notorious back seat, to the health sector, where even the most basic medical consumables are unavailable, to security, the economy, infrastructure, power, and technology, among others, the list is endless,” Aziegbemi said.

He described the situation as “unfortunate” and alleged that Governor Okpebholo “lacks depth, vision, and a clear plan for governance.”

The PDP also accused the government of failing to protect lives and property, citing the killing of at least 35 innocent citizens by militant groups and killer herdsmen.

The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu, said, “In January, the Internally Generated Revenue rose to N10.4 billion, and it is increasing. Under Obaseki, the highest they got was N7.8 billion.”

Ohonbamu also argued that the governor had taken firm measures to curb crime, including amending the anti-cultism law and demolishing houses linked to kidnappers.
