As the Edo State gubernatorial election approaches, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has vowed to ensure a transparent voting process, asserting that the era of election rigging is over.

Speaking at a grand finale rally for Olumide Akpata, the LP candidate, in Benin, Obi declared, “Election rigging is coming to an end in this country. This time around, anyone who rigs election, we will rig him.”

Obi criticized the current state of governance, highlighting the daily struggles faced by Nigerians and urging state governors to fulfill their responsibilities rather than deflecting them to the federal government.

He reassured the crowd that Akpata would adhere to a higher standard of governance.

The former governor of Anambra State called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to facilitate a credible electoral process this Saturday. “I urge the people of Edo State to turn out in large numbers to vote for Akpata and his running mate, Yusuf Kadiri,” he stated.

Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running mate in the previous election, echoed his sentiments, urging Labour Party supporters to mobilize their strength for a decisive victory.
