The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two political thugs in Edo State, recovering firearms and thwarting their plans to cause mayhem during the governorship election.

The suspects, identified as Edwin Obanor and Audu Tajudeen, were caught with locally fabricated pistols and a locally made gun.

According to Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Saturday, the police acted on a tip-off that some individuals had been armed to cause instability during the election.

The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law.
