Edo Police Warn Against Use Of Fireworks in Yuletide Season

The Edo State Police Command has warned its citizens to avoid the use of fireworks during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Chidi Nwabuzo, the Spokesperson of the command, Issued this warning in a press statement on Thursday, December 8.

According to Nwabuzo, its operatives have been given specific instructions to clamp down on dealers of fireworks.

The warning also included those who patronise them, while promising to deal with defaulters.

He also assured that the police and other law enforcement agencies would provide adequate security during the Yuletide season.

The statement read:

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Muhammed Dankwara has assured citizens and residents of the state that the Police and other law enforcement agencies in the state will ensure adequate security before, during, and after the Yuletide seasons.

“The CP enjoins citizens not to, under the pretext of celebrating the season, engage in any illegality, particularly the throwing or shooting of fireworks.

The CP warned that Police operatives of the command have been given specific instructions to clamp down on dealers of fireworks, those who patronized them, and the users, adding that anyone caught breaking the law would be brought to book.”
