Controversial singer Eedris Abdulkareem has accused Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka of not criticizing President Bola Tinubu despite the country’s hardships because of his personal relationship with the president.
Abdulkareem expressed disappointment that Soyinka, known for his harsh critiques of previous administrations, has remained unusually silent under Tinubu’s leadership. “He [Wole Soyinka] has been very quiet lately. I know he has a good relationship with Tinubu, so we know why,” Abdulkareem told SRTV.
Last year, when asked about his silence on the country’s struggles, Soyinka said it was “too early” to judge Tinubu’s administration and promised to give his assessment after a year in office. It has now been almost a month since Tinubu’s administration reached its one-year mark, but Soyinka has yet to deliver his promised evaluation.
