The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intensified its crackdown on cybercrime with the arrest of 12 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos.
In a statement issued by the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, during a sting operation in the Ajegunle-Apapa area of the state.

The commission said the operation was based on credible intelligence linking the individuals to internet-related criminal activities.
“The suspects are currently undergoing profiling, and formal charges will be filed once investigations are concluded and supporting evidence consolidated,” the EFCC stated.
Police Rescue Kidnap Victim in Rivers, Recover Stolen Items
The Rivers State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Mathew John-Zephaniah, during a coordinated operation involving tactical operatives and a local vigilante group.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the operation was carried out by officers drawn from tactical units and divisions under the Oyigbo Area Command, in collaboration with the OSPAC vigilante group.
