Julius Anelu was reportedly arrested just few days to Obaseki’s Handover
The Edo Accountant General, Julius Anelu has been arrested by the EFCC to allegedly stall them from withdrawing from the state account following the upcoming government handover to the Governor-elect, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, by the outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The handing over, is just less than 11 days away and the EFCC has arrested the four officials which are also signatories to the state government accounts.

They were reportedly arrested on Thursday, and are being held at the Benin office of the agency.

According to a source, the recent arrest of the government officials has put an halt on government activities, as the state are currently unable to pay emoluments due to civil servants, pensions, and other public servants.
According to the source, the commission intend to keep the arrested officials till November 12, when the tenure of the outgoing government would end.
