The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of three individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the arrests were carried out during a sting operation conducted by operatives of the EFCC’s Uyo Zonal Directorate.
Oyewale disclosed that the suspects were picked up in the early hours of Wednesday from different locations across the city, including Mbierebe, Stadium Road, Akpasak Estate, and Oron Road.

He stated that the suspects are currently in EFCC custody and will face prosecution after investigations are completed.
“Items recovered from them include four mobile phones, a desktop computer, a laptop, and two cars,” Oyewale said.
“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he added.
