The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into allegations of a N15 million bribe purportedly paid by social media personality Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, to some of its officers.

This development follows a viral video in which Bobrisky claimed that the funds were paid to dismiss money laundering charges against him.

In a statement released on Tuesday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered the immediate formation of a specialized team to delve into the allegations.

The commission has invited both Bobrisky and Martins Vincent Otse, the individual who posted the video, to provide their accounts at its Lagos headquarters.

“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the findings will be made public accordingly,” stated Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the commission.

The viral claims have sparked widespread discussions regarding corruption within the agency, prompting the EFCC to reaffirm its commitment to transparency and accountability.
