EFCC Scrutinized For Arresting Obiano and Leaving Tinubu

EFCC Scrutinized For Arresting Obiano and Leaving Tinubu | Daily Report Nigeria

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been heavily scrutinized for failing to arrest former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The scrutiny was led by former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, who wondered why Tinubu has continued to move freely in the midst of many corruption allegations leveled against him, while Willie Obiano was arrested immediately after handing over power.

Comparing the two former governors, Omokri said Obiano was a saint where Tinubu is.

In a series of tweets on his official Tweeter account, Omokri wrote;
“Compared to Bola Tinubu, Obiano is a saint. Compared to Oluremi Tinubu, Ebele is a choir mistress.

“Why has EFCC left Bola Tinubu, with his humongous corruption, and gone after Obiano?

“Nigerians let us not allow ourselves be distracted by this drama! We need equity!”

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that Obiano was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, on Thursday, just a few hours after handing over to Prof. Charles Soludo as new governor of Anambra State.

He and his wife were traveling to their Houston base in the US, when and was heading out of the country.

The EFCC Public Relations Officer, Wilson Uwajaren, said Obiano had been on the watchlist of the Commission for a very long time prior to his arrest.
